POTA was originally commissioned by Washington National Opera as a part of the inaugural American Opera Initiative produced at the Kennedy Center during the 2012-2013 season. The premiere performance was a tremendous success. However, it was not possible to make a recording at that time.
We have assembled a fantastic group of musicians for this recording project including two original WNO cast members, Julia Mintzer and Shantelle Przybylo, who were joined by two celebrated Philadelphia area musicians, pianist Louis Menendez, and John Packard singing the role of Seamus McGinley. The recording project took place March 23-25, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA.
Endless thanks to librettist John Grimmett; our amazing cast, John Packard, Julia Mintzer, Shantelle Przybylo and Louis Menendez; and Ian DeNolfo, Lisa Willson DeNolfo and Lloyd Joseph Frank at Lion Media Creations; and the amazing donors and supporters who making this recording possible!
We are getting closer and closer, only about $400 away from reaching our fundraising goal of $3,586 to pay for this wonderful recording! Any donation, small or large that you could share with us would be a big help!
Your donation will go directly to paying the performers and for studio and editing costs, and make it possible for this innovative new chamber opera to be heard.
